Religion Research

This database is used to research the religion to which the family may have belonged. Typically we will use the 1901 Ireland Census and research the counties which our ancestors may have lived. The 1901 Census can be found at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/.

To use the census:

1. Set the Census Year to 1901, input the surname and county you are researching and click the Search button
2. Switch Records per page to 100
3. Click the Show all information box
4. Count how many individuals belonged to each religious group. You may use Command F (Find function) to help with the count.
5. At the bottom of the page click Next 100
6. Repeat steps 3 thru 5 until all individuals are counted
7. Input your findings into the Religion Research database
