What We Hope to Learn and Do
Headstones for Relatives in the Belfast City Cemetery
Headstones for Relatives in the Belfast City Cemetery
Thanksgiving Miracle 2024 -
The headstone for John McKenna, Elizabeth Shanks McKenna and their son John was finally placed on 27 November. John is the eldest son of Hugh and Mary Henderson McKenna and brother to Thomas McKenna.
Now the headstone for Hugh McKenna, Mary Henderson McKenna and their daughter Sarah and two great grandchildren is being made and should be in place within a couple of months.
We are planning a McKenna Family Gathering at the cemetery in 2026 - more information to be forthcoming.
We also hope to raise additional funds for headstones for Hugh's son James and his wife Catherine Doyle McKenna and Ellen Singleton, Sarah Singleton McKenna's mother.

Further Research & DNA Testing
Further Research & DNA Testing
We hope to connect to distant cousins through further research and by comparing DNA tests. Research will be documented on Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org and we will maintain a customized database of DNA results that have been voluntarily uploaded to GEDMatch.com with notes on how we may be connected. Here are instructions on how to upload your DNA to GEDMatch.
