GEDMatch Instructions
Here are the step-by-step instructions for downloading a DNA kit and then uploading your DNA to GEDMatch and connecting it to Ancestry Projects.
Firstly, download your DNA kit from your current platform

You then submit your DNA file to GEDMatch which is a site that provides tools for DNA analysis.
Uploading your DNA to GEDmatch -
Log into GEDmatch
Click on tab "Upload DNA"
Follow the steps i.e. 1. Click on "Choose File" and find the file you have downloaded
Then 2 - Add Name, Sex and click on dropdown to pick the testing company i.e. Ancestry.
Then 3 Click on "Your DNA"
Then 4 Privacy options must be Opt In or Opt out for the Project
Then 5 Click “I’m not a robot", then click “Upload”
It takes a day or so for standard processing but can enter Projects immediately.
Next you add your kit(s) to Projects
Join GEDMatch Ancestor Projects -
Go to the "Free Tools" Tab
Click on the last item which is "Ancestor Projects"
Click on the tab for "Search Projects"
Search for the following projects:
Around the Heather's Edge
County Tyrone Ireland Genealogy Ancestor Project
McKenna Genealogy Research
South Armagh Genealogy
Click on the Join button
Fill in the Top Box with the Ancestor Names you are Researching
Select your DNA kit(s) and click "Submit"
You will receive a Welcome email with further details.
