Research Documents

This is a manual tool to track and link source documents that are available for our ancestors.  The originals are stored in box.com and all of the source documents are also be linked to FamilySearch.org.  This tracking spreadsheet gives us a quick view of what documents we have and which documents we still need to research.

Ireland Civil Registration Documents Available at the FHL
This document lists the original birth, marriage and death certificates that are available on microfilm at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Only about 1/4 of the certificates are available there.  The Ireland Civil Registration Index may be searched online at FamilySearch.org.  The certificates that are available in the FHL, may have been extracted and available at FamilySearch.org.  The links for extracted records are: Births, Marriages, Deaths.  All certificates are available in Dublin at the General Registration Office.

Flax Growers List 1796

This list contains the McKennas in County Tyrone who were included in the Flax Growers List.  There were no Singletons in County Armagh included in the list.  The Irish Linen Board published a list of nearly 60,000 individuals in 1796. Spinning wheels were awarded based on the number of acres planted. People who planted one acre were awarded 4 spinning wheels and those growing 5 acres were awarded a loom. Donegal and Tyrone had the highest number of awards.  List can be searched at: http://www.failteromhat.com/flax1796.htm

Ulster Covenant 1912
This list contains the McKennas and Singletons who signed the Ulster Covenant in 1912.  The archive of the Ulster Unionist Council, held by the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI), contains just under half a million original signatures and addresses of the men who, on 28 September 1912, signed the Ulster Covenant, and of the women who signed the parallel Declaration. In total, the Covenant was signed by 237,368 men, and the Declaration by 234,046 women.  Searchable database at: http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/search_the_archives/ulster_covenant.htm

This list was extracted from the microfilm at the LDS Family History Library.  It includes the last names of Singleton, Hutchinson and Kells.
